Fjörd
was created in late 2256 of the runic era (2006) by Wodansson (vocals,
percussions, folk instruments) and Orgoth (guitars, bass). Inspired by
pioneers in Folk/Viking metal like Storm, Hades, Bathory,
Isengard and Falkenbach, the purpose was and never has been to
“imitate” or jump in some kind of folk metal trend as it has become these
days, but to simply create and play the kind of music which both artists loved
and found inspiring to spirit, heart and soul. Striving for absolute
originality was not our quest yet, amidst the tidal wave of pagan/folk/Viking
metal bands that have emerged, Fjörd
managed to distinguish itself with its own particular style. The debut album
VOR TRU is a testimony to this.
In
late 2009 Orgoth left the formation, thus Fjörd
went through a dormant stage. After many months of inactivity and a few
attempt to find a line-up, long time friend and multi-talented musician
Evillair joined the clan in late 2010. At that moment, new material began
to see the light again under a new dawn. Musically, Fjörd
has matured again and stepped up to a new level of musicianship and Heathen
epic grandeur which will be unleashed upon Midhgardhr.
Fjörd’s
concept is of Traditional Odinism, devoted to the ancestral tradition and
heritage, both cultural and religious, of northern Europe and its children
wherever they may be on Midhgardhr. Our music promotes Pride, Honour,
Strength, Wisdom, Courage, Tradition and the warrior spirit as bestowed to us
by Odin All-Father. Through music and words, the nine noble virtues of our
ancestors and their gods and goddesses are honoured and expressed for the
Heathen souls to hear.
All
symbols showed in the imagery of Fjörd
are Traditional cultural and religious symbols sacred to the ancient tribes of
Europe and still are to this day. These are not “modern” symbols of political
propaganda.
For
Troth, Folk and Gods.
